In Goa, Karnataka, and Maharastra states people followed this day is starting of a new season.
                                      There are many stories were behind this festival in ancient books.in starting days wife tied a bandan to her husband for his safety and victory .now a days  sisters are these rakhi s to their brothers for her love and his safety..now a a days people in Canada ,Britain ,Nepal countries also celebrating this rakshabandan festival.
